Program Availability: Chamblee, GA (Main Campus)
This program offers training in all phases of repair and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The program also prepares the student for required EPA Certifications in the management of refrigerants and NATE Certifications, designed to recognize truly excellent and capable HVAC/R professionals. The program courses contain a presentation of theory, but are largely taught through hands-on experience for applied technical HVAC/R courses. Excellent employment opportunities exist for entry-level positions as an HVAC/R technician or maintenance technician.
Certifications Included: ICT is one of the only colleges in the country to include industry-required certifications as part of the program.
As with all programs we offer, the HVAC/R program includes an externship. An externship is a program that assigns a student to a partnering company for 135 hours, giving the student the opportunity to put his/her new skills to use and gain real-life career training experience. ICT is one of the few HVAC schools that offer this as part of a student’s training in every program of study.
Excellent employment opportunities exist for HVAC/R technicians or maintenance technicians and this is a field in which well-qualified technicians will always be in demand. And as with all ICT programs, our Employment Assistance program is there to help each Graduate find employment upon graduation and whenever additional employment assistance is needed in the future.
Georgia currently ranks in the top ten states nationally for career opportunities for HVAC/R technicians.
In 2012, HVAC Instructor Michael Leonard was selected as the HVAC Instructor of the Year nationally by The Air-conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration News – the top periodical in the nation serving this critical industry.
“I build relationships with my students and I’ll be a lifelong friend, if that’s what they need,” Leonard said. “I’m always here to lend a hand, give them guidance, and make sure they are taking the necessary steps to succeed.”
The HVAC/R training program offered by ICT places the college as a premier Atlanta Technical College.
Recently, I interviewed with a local computer networking firm. I found two things to be very interesting during the interview. First, I did not apply for this position. The company actually found out about me through word of mouth. Second, I was told by the interviewer that “The reason we reached out to you is because your resume was so well put together and we were impressed”. Without a doubt, the mock interviews that we conducted in class provided me with tons of confidence during the interview process.
