Our Externship Programs Help Prepare You for Success
Every occupational program at ICT includes a 135-hour externship component. Taking place in the final semester of study, it’s arranged on a student-by-students basis, taking the program of study, the student’s strengths and preferences, geographical proximity, and a variety of other individualized factors into account.
Each campus maintains a number of externship partners. These companies participate by utilizing students for a period of 135 hours in the day-to-day conduct of business. Many companies like the program as a means of evaluating students as potential employees, and it is not unusual that a student is offered a position by the company where the externship was served. This is just one example of our commitment to providing a quality education to all students.
Externship Class
The Externship class, taken at the end of the program, provides an opportunity for qualified students to participate in a real-world job setting. In addition, the externship program is designed to expose the student to the day-to-day scheduling and productivity demands of a professional business. This overall process is intended to improve the employability of the graduate. It also helps ensure a successful transition into the workforce. Prerequisite – Satisfactory progress into final semester of program and/or instructor recommendation.
Externship Partners
If you have a company that’s interested in participating in our externship program, please contact the Employment Assistance Coordinator at your nearest campus. Extern employers can benefit from the students participating in their normal functions of the company. We only ask that the employer review the student’s work each week and remain in contact with the college.
